The first sunny day

Today was bittersweet.

A couple in my community gave birth to beautiful twin girls about 4 and a half months ago and there were complications.  The smaller twin, Emma, died last week after battling infection and the trials that come with being premature.

That’s just not supposed to happen.  Babies aren’t supposed to die before their parents.

The community gathered together today to remember little Emma, sharing stories and tears and it was really beautiful.

And wouldn’t you was the first really sunny day in Seattle.  76 degrees! Two weeks ago, it was snowing.  Part of me thinks Emma was smiling at us.

So, here’s to you Matt, Ellen, and Ella.  May you love fiercely, live joyfully, and always remember how much your friends and family love you.
